Me and nine mates went here at 8am on the friday before the scotland v wales six nations match. We arrived early on our flight and this was the only place we could drink.

We thought we had walked into film set for the recording of Trainspotting 2. Two welsh lads sat behind us left after only finishing half of their pint.

It was a hairy moment after leaving. We stood on the pavement outside and realised one of our group was missing. We thought we would have to draw straws for the one of us who would have to go and see where he was. Luckily he came down the stairs, he had popped to the toilets.

Hardcore is the word to use. I used to go down here at 0500 when I had a drink problem.

Friendly enough for what it is, the sound of Minimalistix at 5 in the morning is maybe a bit too much.

Hardcore. Does what it says on the tin though.

if you want a drink while watching breakfeast telly then this is the spot . The draught beers foul so stay on the bottles .
Juke box is ok and theres the usual mix of jakies, post clubbers, bouncers and hospital cases . cracking jukebox to soundtrack the occasion with and if its a little to scary come back during the festival or head to the scotsman lounge.

There is nowhere better to end the night or start the morning that Penny Blacks. While a good place to end the night, It is an even better place to stop off for a quick double vodka or 2 on the way to work before a meeting with your manager!! Good way to calm the nerves when not much else is open!!

Used to open at 5am but now opens at six - much to the dismay of off duty door staff who, along with off duty bar staff and hardcore drinkers make up the clientele. The location to aspire to on a night out - only then can you claim to be hardcore... :)
