I used to visit the Morning Glory quite regulary (As i stay up the road), I would tell my friends what a great place it was to eat, but once it changed hands, the service level dropped dramatically, the food was really poor and the length of time to get served was abismal. (I hr approx) I can safely say i will never eat in there again. Thanks.

Deceptive place: an old-man's pub from the outside, but the interior is a drinks bar. Little tables and cozy leather chairs in nooks.
Occasionally has guest ales, but its strength lies with the mixed drinks. Good cosmopolitans and one of the few places you can get an Irish car bomb.
Food is fine. The fish'n'chips is served in the The Scotsman for a nice touch, but a dangerous combination with the candles on the tables.

Ok after much popping in and out the Morning Glory seems to be at least consistant, same staff although still missing the general local pub friendly "Thanks and bye!". Still it seems to be getting a different clientele. Young and mature oh nd nice looking! only positive stuff from this visit. Hopefully the change will continue to mould a decent local but still stylish worth while visiting pub. Still missing is events on tv and easily made quality non brake brther's food, even and attempt into cooking a few home made itmes.

This bar in its former guise used to be my local. No doubt it 'looks' more modern than the Hermatige did, but it 'feels' cold and unfriendly, not a local in the real sense. I wouldnt go out of my way to frequent it. There are far better pubs in the area.

I popped into the Morningside Glory last week for lunch. It was the first time i'd been in since last april. I must say i was impressed with the service. The staff were very attentive & were able to answer all my questions. The food we had was great too (beef burger & a salmon salad). I will definately be going back as we really enjoyed ourselves whilst there. Great pub.

We've been in a couple of times staff generally don't seem particularly interested, service even when quiet is dire, another piece of pub vandalism, far too expensive.

Stopped by for a sanny and soup (advertised at 4.95). We waited about 25 mins for the food. Got one slice of bread with BLT and soup that looked and tasted like dishwater. Won't trouble to go there again.

After popping into the The Morning glory (Hermitage)for many years now through and seeing its various states, I've recently had enough! You wait forever for a pint, the place stinks of greasy food from the kitchen, Sporting events are in actual fact a non event. In general the Bar staff have no courtosy or give the usual how are you doing! It seems the pub changes with every bi-monthly new managers that is hired. Mr King whoever you are and your glaweigen managers dont have a clue about the running of this pub, The old hermitage could have been turned into a good pub when the brewery sold up now you have managed to change it for the worst! Oh and the Brake brother's prepacked food is usually cold. This did used to be a favourite watering hole of mine but not anymore.

After several months avoiding this place, further to previous bad expoeriences, i had the misfortune to pop in on saturday night whilst waiting for my Indian Carry Out. A quick pint i thought. Silly me. Place was fairly quiet with 1 girl serving to the best of her abilities. I stood waiting 10 minutes, without so much as an acknowledgement of my existence. Others waited in anticipation ahead of me. Two others sat at the bar joked "quicker getting a drink in the desert mate" With that i left, not before expressing my disppointment to the barmaid. Oh and by the way the manager (the most recent of many) was busy - Outside collecting chairs !!

Say no more Mr King. Get out of Morningside and give us a pub back for the people. Do you want a return on your investment...apparently not.

Curry was as good as ever Mr Abdul and service just great !

The bar staff agree this is ridiculous but Management enforce the price.

On Sunday 28th May 2006 at approx 14:30 the Morningside Glory in Edinburgh was unable to serve me about half of its menu, even though it was a bank holiday weekend. I was advised they had been busy and most items were sold out. My advice is to cross the street to the Waiting Room where the full menu is available!!!

This is a true case of style over substance. G1 pubs and clubs in Glasgow are mostly excellent but this falls way below par.
The food is expensive, and basic. They might have got away with mozzarella sticks and pub burgers in the early 90s but not now.
It looks better, inside and out, than the Hermitage ever did but it just can't cut it in comparison to The Waiting Room, The Merlin or the Canny Mans.

This pub started well when it opened a few months ago. Having now used it four times for food and around a dozen for a glass of wine the place regretably has deteriorated badly.

Warm white wine, soggy fish and chips in the Scotsman paper,a bar that clearly had not been cleaned of finger prints etc during service and frequent staff changes all unfortunately with very little experience.
It's a shame because it is nice inside and in a good spot. Unfortunately we know numerous others who have had similar experiences to oursover the past few weeks and despite mentioning the warm wine on more than one occassion nothing has changed.
Yesterday they nearly got it right- wine better but they gave us the wrong wine despite saying it was what we ordered that was until the member of staff retrieved the bottle from the bin- it was the wrong wine .

It will be a while before we venture back -if we ever will!
