Recommended - lovely comfortable couches to lounge on , great selection of beers (german and belgian) and coffees , and if youre coming for food the menu looked lovely - served in a more intimate area to the rear .
The staff were lovely and friendly too . The big screens on the walls were permanently showing sport (not sure if live football)
Clientele is heavily on the "yaa" brigade edinburgh uni crowd , but all in well recommended .

One of the best bars in Ed. when there aren't too many students in there. One of the best selections of draught and bottled beers you'll find and a great place to relax; not too loud with nice big sofas

This bar does have an amazing selection of bottled beers. For a beer lover it is a wonderful thing to have to ponder long and hard which beer you wish to order. The downside is that this place has a really stupid layout. The couches are a waste of time and space. I would advise just going in here to get a special beer from the menu then menu on to somewhere else to relax with your friends. Also the music can drive you to drink! James Blunt assault one night, and I think they try to put on a DJ sometimes, believe me their is no space for that. I have never tried the Bistro - Pubs and Bars for beers, then Restuarants for food. That's how it should be done.

Spend Friday evening with a friend for a drink. the couches were all reserved from 6 pm onwards, so we had to sit on the barstools. we noticed that due to this 'reserved'-sign, they lost quite a bit of trade (about 20 people thought there was no space and left the building..) We decided we needed to eat and got a place in the restaurant. It was very good for dinner! 2 fillet steaks, fries, salad and a bottle of wine for £37!! Good value. The leather couches are very comfertable and the atmosphere is great!

This place really is a bit of a hidden gem.It consists of a small relaxing bar area where you can sit back in huge comfy sofas and enjoy one of the numerous beers from around the globe. The second part is the bistro area which is intimate and welcoming. There are really two primary reasons to come here.... the beers (they have their own menu) and the mussels which are excellent. They also do other food and indeed drink if mussels and beer don't float your boat. For a city centre bar and bistro of this standard it is inexpensive and the laid back atmosphere attracts a broad mix of people.

Pub / Restaurant with a vast variety of beers. So vast in fact, there is a beer menu and you can drink beers from all over the globe, mainly in bottles, but there is a decent range also on draught - budvar, staropramen, erdinger etc. Place is quite expensive but it does offer a good night out in a place that is a bit different.
